A Long Road

As many of you know Tony and I have moved a lot...far more than the average couple.  Lets see we have lived in 5 houses over the course of 10 years.  Some we only lived in for 9 months, thanks to a booming Florida housing market.

Our most recent home was in Scott Township.  We purchased this home just after I found out I was pregnant with Victoria in 2006.  The timing was right, since this was a bit of a downsize and allowed us to use the equity we  built up and eliminate our mortgage. The house hadn't been updated since, well, maybe it was built.  We updated almost every inch of the house.  It was perfect, well almost perfect!  I missed having a master bath room, the dining room was too small, and it lacked that open floor plan.  When we would eat at the breakfast table, I felt like I was running in and out of the kitchen all the time and wasn't part of the meal.  Then there was the garage.  It was a 1 car garage, that didn't fit my Honda Pilot, not to mention the fact that you could get from the garage into the house.  We did fix up the basement as Blake's man cave and he liked having an area away from his sister.  But the house never felt like "home".  As the kids grew, our house seem smaller, and Tony and I started talking about moving....but where?  Friends of ours had built a new home, and we both got the itch.  We tossed around buying an existing home, but didn't want to have to renovate.  We looked at building and it seemed like the only option!

I don't remember when we first met with Zach from Ryan, but it had to be around March. We were looking at building in Timber Run, Cecil PA.  They had new lots open and a floor plan we liked, The Oakmont.  I remember Tony and I driving around to all the different models, Oakmont, Victoria Falls, Fox Chappel and Naples.  We really liked the Oakmont.  We went back to Zach and we did a walk of the lots. YIKES, NO yard!!!  We would have about 25 feet of back yard space and either a hill in the back yard or a cliff.  No thanks.  Zach then told us that there will be another phase opening up in the Fall at the other side of the community.  Tony and I drove over to the area and said this should work.  It was hard to tell where the lots would be or how the road would end up, but we decided to wait.

We listed our house and waited for a bite.  We had our first offer after a week, and well it didn't work out.  The second offer came in about two weeks later and BINGO...SOLD!  We closed on the house July 13, and are now renting a 1,000 sq ft condo in Summit Ridge.  And now we wait....
